Natural waxes including vegetable waxes such as carnauba and candelilla, animal waxes like beeswax and mineral waxes like montan wax play critical roles in many applications. However they can also create challenges for formulators. Variation in quality is inherent in the sourcing and production of these products. And the supply chain can often be challenging. Elevance's technology allows readily available feedstocks like soybean and palm oils to be converted into products that can perform like their natural wax counterparts – and still retain the renewable resource origin.

Through our technology partnership with Tetramer Technologies, LLC, Elevance has profiled the structure/property relationships of the most widely used natural and synthetic waxes such as paraffin and microcrystalline waxes. In addition, we have developed alternative products that can often outperform their naturally occurring counterparts.
