Paraffin waxes are often used to coat paper, corrugated and packaging products for moisture and grease barrier, gloss or adhesion. Yet the decline in paraffin supply has at times left packaging producers scrambling for options. Traditional vegetable wax alternatives can be too brittle or have other performance issues. Elevance has worked with industry partners to develop coatings that meet performance requirements, including products that meet ASTM D 6400-04 composting specifications.
