Elevance Hires Industry Veteran to Lead Antimicrobials Unit

Lisle, Ill. (Oct. 7, 2008) — Kenneth J. Christy has joined Elevance Renewable Sciences, Inc. as the Antimicrobial Business Platform Leader effective Oct. 1, 2008. In his new role, Christy will lead Elevance's efforts to develop and grow its position in the global antimicrobial market using novel actives from renewable, raw materials.

"Ken has the industry experience and know-how to accelerate Elevance's entry into the multi-billion dollar antimicrobials market," said Andy Shafer, Elevance's Executive Vice President for Sales and Market Development. "We have outlined an aggressive growth strategy and I am confident that with Ken's expertise and our cutting-edge technology, we will thrive in this large, attractive market, which is one of our three key product platforms in addition to functional oils and lubricants and additives."

Christy has over 30 years of experience in the biocides business. He began his career at Olin Corporation in 1976. When Arch Chemicals Inc. spun off from Olin Corporation in 1999, he assumed a corporate role as Vice President for Growth. He moved back into biocides as Vice President for Industrial Biocides in October of 2000. Most recently Christy has served as Director, Strategy & Business Development for Arch Wood Protection.
