Elevance Renewable Sciences Increases Production of Specialty Chemicals

Elevance Renewable Sciences announced it has completed a one million-pound (approximately 500 metric tons) production run of specialty chemicals made from renewable feedstocks. This is a significant increase from its previous 40,000-pound production runs (approximately 20 metric tons).

“There is an increased demand from customers for larger volumes of renewable products in anticipation of our bio-refinery start-up at the end of this year,” said K’Lynne Johnson, CEO of Elevance. “The one million-pound production campaign provides our customers with product to continue their qualification and development timelines.”

This production marks a significant increase in the company’s scale conversion of feedstocks into specialty chemicals using Elevance’s proprietary biorefinery technology. The one million-pound production run was conducted at toll manufacturing locations in the U.S. as Elevance finalizes construction at its Indonesian plant in partnership with Wilmar.

The specialty chemicals produced include alpha olefins and novel esters that will be used by Elevance’s customers in applications that include surfactants for detergents and cleaners, personal care products, lubricants and additives for lubricants and fuels.
