Elevance Renewable Sciences Announces Industrial Lubricants Partner

Elevance Renewable Sciences, Inc. announces its partnership with Kansas City, MO-based NL Grease LLC. Elevance will collaborate with NL Grease in the commercialization of new environmental high performance grease technology and materials.

“We are pleased to announce our collaboration with NL Grease to commercialize our lubricant technology in grease applications.  This collaboration marks an important step in expanding our industrial lubricants portfolio,” said Andy Shafer, executive vice president of sales and market development.

The collaboration will combine the innovation, private label marketing and service capabilities of NL Grease with Elevance’s metathesis technology to make grease production more environmentally sustainable and provide an alternative to raw materials with current supply limitations.

Elevance Renewable Sciences has opened an entire new landscape of high performance renewable materials based on the company’s proprietary metathesis technology. According to an NLGI grease production industry report, there was more than two billion pounds of grease produced worldwide in 2009. The companies anticipate commercialization to begin during 2011 for the North American grease market.
