Market Platform Leader – Lubricants & Additives
Elevance™ Renewable Sciences, Inc., a new specialty chemical company based on groundbreaking, proven technology, is harnessing the potential of natural oils to produce a portfolio of commercial products across multiple markets. Elevance was formed to institutionalize work started in 2004 in collaboration between Cargill, one of the world's largest producers of agricultural oils, and Materia, a leading edge technology organization leveraging patents from the California Institute of Technology (CalTech), to catalyze the commercial production of renewable chemicals.
Elevance is backed by TPG, and is a high growth business with a leading market and IP position. We are the leader in using renewable or natural oils (e.g., soybean, canola, corn and sunflower oils) to create an extraordinarily wide variety of specialty chemical products using a broad range of proprietary, patent protected technologies, including Nobel Prize winning metathesis.
Elevance begins with a revenue base of approximately $20 Million and is projected to scale to over $1 Billion in 6 years and directly addresses a $20 Billion Market. We have strong IP protection, real revenue and catalyst technologies which are such that they create a compelling growth opportunity.
We currently have an opening for a Market Platform Leader – Lubricants & Additives to be located in our Bolingbrook, IL headquarter office.
POSITION SUMMARY:
A key leadership role on the commercial team, this position is responsible for establishing strategic development partnerships and meeting revenue goals through prospecting, developing and closing new business deals and expanding existing business. The incumbent will be responsible for identifying, and leading new platform opportunities and products thru the development process consistent with the growth plans and strategy of the company. This position will also lead new product launch activities.
Responsibilities will include:
- Make recommendations regarding platform strategies, specific opportunity fit and priorities to the company's leadership team.
- Build team for long-term, deeper penetration into lubricants and additives market segment.
- Stays abreast of trends and competitive conditions; communicates them regularly thru the organization
- Controls expenditures of sales & development efforts to conform to budgetary requirements.
- Identify and screen new product or market opportunities relating to the business.
- Shape and re-shape the scope, content and strategy of the new business platform(s), and related aspects of the business plan, by defining & prioritizing market needs and openings, and the potential value to be created and captured.
- Determines the market and commercial potential for identified opportunities providing analysis of commercial, economic/financial and competitive attractiveness.
- Identifies where in the value chain to participate and the type of products, systems or services to provide, partners for commercialization; clearly articulates the basis for sustainable competitive advantage
- Works with the technical team to determine the technical merit and fit of various opportunities
- Identifies, negotiates and manages business development relationships with strategic partners
- Commercializes selected opportunities by developing and implementing plans and coordinating with R&D/technical, commercial, financial and operations teams at targeted partners and/or customers
- Present at conferences, trade shows, or other events as appropriate.
- Develops and achieves growth plans in assigned markets and account
- Develops robust sales revenue strategies.
- Handles product pricing strategies relative to revenue strategy and the competitive landscape.
- Manages new product launches, consistent with brand.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in a related field, technical degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering and MBA preferred.
- Product and or Industry knowledge in the following areas is preferred:
- Natural oils, esters, fatty acids and or waxes
- Lubricants & Lubricant Additives
- Specialty Fuels & Fuel Additives
- Bio-based lubricants
- 10 - 15 years sales, business development and marketing experience in the chemicals and allied products industry.
- Demonstrated ability to sell to the C-Suite level of decision makers in multiple industries and various size companies.
- Proven effective leadership capabilities.
- Strong listening skills; ability to hear and capture customer unmet (and often unstated) needs and performance requirements.
- Solid business judgment, strategic analysis and conceptual thinking skills.
- Proven success in prospecting, developing and closing new business.
