Market Development Manager
Elevance™ Renewable Sciences, Inc., a new specialty chemical company based on groundbreaking, proven technology, is harnessing the potential of natural oils to produce a portfolio of commercial products across multiple markets. Elevance was formed to institutionalize work started in 2004 in collaboration between Cargill, one of the world's largest producers of agricultural oils, and Materia, a leading edge technology organization leveraging patents from the California Institute of Technology (CalTech), to catalyze the commercial production of renewable chemicals.
Elevance is backed by TPG, and is a high growth business with a leading market and IP position. We are the leader in using renewable or natural oils (e.g., soybean, canola, corn and sunflower oils) to create an extraordinarily wide variety of specialty chemical products using a broad range of proprietary, patent protected technologies, including Nobel Prize winning metathesis.
Elevance begins with a revenue base of approximately $20 Million and is projected to scale to over $1 Billion in 6 years and directly addresses a $20 Billion Market. We have strong IP protection, real revenue and catalyst technologies which are such that they create a compelling growth opportunity.
We currently have an opening for a Market Development Manager to be located in our Bolingbrook, IL headquarter office.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Market Development Manager is primarily responsible for the development of strategic market/product line business plans and developing partnerships in designated market segments with strategic customers. Analyzes market data to identify trends/opportunities; develops strategic direction from market information; creates compelling market analysis and growth strategies. This position is responsible for developing new opportunities for revenue generation.
The Market Development Manager works on extremely complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables. The successful candidate will be able to exercise independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria and skilled in executing deals with targeted accounts to achieve development and commercial results.
Responsibilities will include:
- Acts as the primary focus for development and monetization of projects that represent significant opportunities.
- Screens and evaluates potential market and business opportunities with input from technical team and proposes strategies, tactics, and resource requirements.
- Leads/participates in negotiations of commercial terms and pricing with the client in order win the business, working with technical, legal, other commercial management to address key issues and finalize the commercial contracts.
- Manages multiple projects involving different customers and activities simultaneously.
- Coordinates business development internally and externally and seeks competitive intelligence from multiple sources.
- Interacts with existing clients to build relationships and establish trust and confidence in Elevance technologies and products.
- Attends conferences to meet new clients to identify potential new business opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in a related field, technical degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering and MBA preferred
- 8 - 12 years in commercial roles including business/product management, business development, sales, marketing or strategy in the chemicals or allied products industry.
- Product and or Industry knowledge in any of the following areas is preferred:
- Natural oils, esters, fatty acids and waxes
- Oleochemicals
- Greases, rheology modifiers, surfactants or solvents
- Lubricants and lubricant additives
- Personal care products
- Antimicrobials
- Demonstrated capability to define partnerships, negotiate and manage several agreements and contracts simultaneously.
